Wellness Retreat for Trans Sex Workers

Wellness Retreat for Trans Sex Workers

Gender Journeys: Wellness Retreat for Trans Sex Workers is a program that supports trans people to discuss and explore parts of our lives – our relationships to partners, family, friends, and the people we work with. Dealing with transphobia. New community resources. Feeling good about who we are. Staying resilient when things get hard. This program has run in other parts of Canada and is now coming to Vancouver.

Our program in Vancouver is for trans people who do sex work. We like to think of it as a weekly “wellness retreat,” that takes place every Monday from 5-7pm from October 23 through December 11, 2017. It runs out of PACE, which is located at 148 West Hastings Street. Gina & Jayne, our facilitators, will be here to welcome you (along with a snack table)! Participants also receive a $5 stipend for coming.

The topics for each week were chosen by the members of the Trans Supper Club at Pace. These are the topics we chose to explore:

  • Activism
  • Gender in Cultures Around the World
  • Massage techniques
  • Two Spirit Identities
  • Know Your Rights
  • Sexual Health & Pleasure
  • Yoga for Beginners
  • Writing for Healing

A different guest presenter will join us each week to lead us in activities and discussions around these topics. It’s free to attend. We will post more details about each session in coming weeks! This project is being organized by PACE Society and Catherine White Holman Wellness Centre, with funds from TransCareBC.

We hope you’ll come join us! Please email retreat@cwhwc.com with any questions.
